  Jesus Plan

1. Expectation

Matthew 9:16-17
16 "No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse.
17 Neither do men pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved."

Jesus expects people to change not only the exterior but also the interior(heart) and He expects people to change not only the interior but also the exterior (character). And He also warns them of the consequence if they don't do it.

2. Submission

Matthew 10:24-25
24 "A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master.
25 It is enough for the student to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebub, how much more the members of his household!

Discipleship, even though it is a very mutual understanding between two disciples, it also encloses a student-teacher relationship with each other where the teacher is above the student spiritually and the student is submissive (learning) to the teacher.

3. Habitation

Matthew 11:28-30
28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Jesus gives us rehabitation to us. Since the world has many heavy yokes to care. Jesus promises us that His yoke is light. In discileship we carry each other burdens and we help out each other. Jesus helps us through our prayers.

4. Imitation

Matthew 14:15-21
15 As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a remote place, and it's already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food."
16 Jesus replied, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat."
17 "We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish," they answered.
18 "Bring them here to me," he said.
19 And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.
20 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
21 The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Discipleship is a matter of initiating with one another to do good deeds. Jesus inspires the disciples to take care of the needs of people by himself taking care of the needs.

5. Premeditation

Matthew 18:24-28
24 As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him.
25 Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.
26 "The servant fell on his knees before him. 'Be patient with me,' he begged, 'and I will pay back everything.'
27 The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.
28 "But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him and began to choke him. 'Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded.

Since discipleship is preparation to go into the Kingdom, it takes sacrifice and a cost to count. The necessary decision needs to be taken in the sober mind and not in the excited state.

Conclusion

Matthew 18:3-4
3 And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
4 Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Discipleship needs humility. An attitude to change is very necessary. Jesus was humble and expects humility from us.
